Refresh. Relax. Return.

It happens every so often.
Life gets in the way. You get busy with work, or relationships. It’s summer, you find other things to do. Whatever the reason, you sacrifice one thing you want or need to do for another.
That’s been the last couple of months for me. I say this while I sit at my desk at my paying job on what would normally be a night off and lamenting how the time would be better spent elsewhere. I’ve been distracted, and it’s pulling things—specifically, my writing projects—out of focus.
The last six weeks have been a sort of unplanned creative vacation, and once I realized what was happening, what was necessary, I got rid of some of the anxiety that comes with not writing. Sometimes, you just need to rest. I’ve always been bad at writing when the weather gets warm, and the need to rest occasionally is probably why.

July has turned to August, and as the summer winds down, I can feel the creative gears turning. I think I’m ready.
