NaNoWriMo 5K Check-in

Hey you guys!

So, we’re at Day 3 of NaNoWriMo, and I thought it would be a good time to check in!

I’m at a shade of 5000 words on this go-round (and the project as a whole just crossed the 30K mark). I’ve worked at a decent pace this time around, thanks in large part to my night shift schedule allowing me several hours of uninterrupted writing time. The story has decent bones, but it’s kind of a hot mess. But that’s not the point. You can’t fix a story that’s not there, right? I should also mention that 50K in 2020 is a secondary goal for me; the primary goal is to finish this thing I’ve had on the back burner since 2017.

Robyn has gotten 4000 words in the first two days of the challenge, having not yet written today (the problems with day shift work). She’s on pace to complete this for the third time, and I’m so proud of her. I don’t know too many details of her story—writers are a superstitious lot—but I’m openly rooting for her. That pour of whiskey is getting closer by the minute!
